Living In The USA
US Federal Holidays.
There are 10 Federal Holidays, this is kind of the US equivelent of our Bank Holidays. they are
- January 1st - New Years Day
- 3rd Monday in January - Martin Luther King Day
- 3rd Monday in February - President's Day
- Last Monday in May - Memorial Day

- 1st Monday in September - Labor Day
- 2nd Monday in October - Columbus Day
- November 11th - Veterans Day

Not all States recognise all days as Holidays (as in a day off work) but most do. Certain States have additional Holidays, Texas has a total of 20 (including it's own Independence Day on March 2nd), although some are seen as optional by employers.
On Election years the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November is Election Day and deemed a national holiday in some US States.
The US do not celebrate Boxing Day, infact it's unlikely any American will have actually heard of it.
Some of the local Holidays and national days of note include
- 1st Sunday in February - Super Bowl Sunday
- February 2nd - Groundhog Day
- Last Friday in April - Arbor Day
- May 5th - Cinco De Mayo
